Week of April 6th ~ Learn At Home Plan~

Holy means “set apart.” Christians set apart an entire week - Holy Week - to recall the events surrounding the suffering, Death, and Resurrection of Jesus.

RELIGION
Religion
Go to the Student Portal and Click on Growing In Faith 
User Name & Password will be there for you to gain access.
Click on Grade 2
At the top select This Week at Home 
Scroll down and select Week 28 from the drop down menu.
Read the “Read Together” stories (click on the hippo on the left if you want it read to you)
Complete the “Family Activity” activities on your own or with your family.
Listen to or sing the songs in “Music to Sing Together” by yourself or together.
‘Mindful Me’ Time
Write about something that you are grateful for today. (“I am grateful for __________ because ________.”)

Visit Mindfulness Rocks YouTube Channel with one of your parents to help your brain and body find calm.



LANGUAGE
Weekly Words
pick, wrap, honest, tidy, hurt
Working with
Weekly Words
Put your words in ABC (alphabetical) order.

Find and print rhyming words (that follow the same spelling pattern) for made and make.

Use each word in a super sentence. Make sure you use adjectives and proper capitals and punctuation.

Visit the WWW Practice link in the right sidebar to play games to practise your word wall words.
Reading
Read for 20 minutes a day. You can use Raz-Kids, your own books or any other online books sites. 
Writing
Go to the Student Portal and click on Drive.
Go to “Shared with Me” on the left hand side and look for April 6 Easter Bunny Description ….OR….
Find your Language folder (Language-1LAN-7-1920). Open it (double click), then open the file called April 6 Easter Bunny Description.
Write a description (at least 5 sentences) of the Easter Bunny. Use lots of adjectives and describe what it looks like, where it lives, what it’s wearing, what it’s holding, how big it is, etc. Someone should be able to draw your Easter Bunny based on your description.
Communication
Participate in our Google Meet on Tuesday, April 7th at 11am with Mrs.Combden and Mme Nathalie & on Thursday, April 9th at 10am with Mrs.Combden. Make sure you know how to login to your student email!

SCIENCE
Movement
Watch Simple Machines for Kids (7:01) on YouTube. Search every room in your house and keep track of what simple machines you find. Before you start, think about what would be the best way to keep track of your data. Tell three things you learned about the data you collected (use comparing words) and one thing you didn’t learn (a wondering could you have about the simple machines in your house).



MATH

Do they stack, slide or roll song.

Worksheets (answer sheets are on the 2nd page). If you do not have access to a printer, have your child write the answers on a piece of paper.

Symmetry

Fold a piece of paper in half.
Draw one side of an Easter Bunny face.
Hold the edge of the fold line (the line of symmetry) up to a mirror.
Can you see the symmetrical side? After, you can open the paper up and draw the other side. Try your best to make it symmetrical!

Check this out! MEET THE BEES in your backyard

Hey Parents! If you use Facebook, an Ottawa company called ‘Gees Bees Honey Company’ has a Facebook Live Event on April 8th at 11:00-11:30 called MEET THE BEES in your backyard. There’s singing, drawing, waggle dancing, science and all things bees! It’s a great way for students to learn about the bees in their backyard!
